Dear Colleagues,

I am excited to present to you the 2021 Nursing Annual Report, complete with a "Glimpse of 2020." As I review all of the programs, initiatives, and exemplars of exceptional care from 2021, I am again astounded by the magnitude of great work and unparalleled quality care SHC nurses provide. This Nursing Annual Report is only a snapshot of this year's many contributions.

Perhaps one of Stanford Nursing's greatest honors from 2021 was receiving our 4th consecutive Magnet designation in February. Despite the pandemic, our visionary care did not cease and we successfully received the highest national honor given for nursing excellence and quality patient care by the most prestigious nursing credentialing organization, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Currently, we are continuing on our Magnet journey and this Annual Report is filled with testaments of Stanford Nurse's new knowledge and innovations, exemplary professional practice, and transformational leadership, all supported by structural empowerment and positively impacting SHC's empirical outcomes.

I chose to release this report during a special time- SHC's Nurses Appreciation Week. This is a week of celebration, reflection, and of gratitude. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you, for your compassionate care, unfailing advocacy, and strong dedication to our patients, their families, and our community. Each nurse brings a unique strength to the care of our patients and it is when we come together that we can heal humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time.
